My name is Dave Harris. I played the viola at the FIM from sixth grade until I graduated from high school in 2011. I just graduated from West Point in May of 2016, and am on leave until my next duty assignment in a few weeks.

The FIM gave me an opportunity to be a part of musical ensembles, including my favorite, the Youth Symphony. I would not have continued playing the viola into high school, if I had not gotten the opportunity to be part of the ensembles the FIM provided.

My name is Emily Durand and I attended FSPA's dance program for 10 years participating in The Nutcracker and Flint Youth Ballet. I am currently pursing a dance career in Seattle, WA. I dance for Karin Stevens Dance, The Three Yells and KT Niehoff's production of, "A Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light".

"Soup Day" was like a holiday of its own for the dancers around Nutcracker season. I always felt very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work and train with quality teachers and guests artist each year.

I am currently a company member with the Sacramento Ballet, where I have been a professional dancer for 5 years. I trained and danced at FSPA from age 4 until I graduated high school. FSPA provided me with a good foundation in dance and prepared me for the work I am doing now. I received excellent and varied training, incorporating many different teachers, techniques, and styles of dance. Through Flint Youth Ballet, I had many chances to perform, the opportunity to work with new choreographers, and traveled the world. I am so grateful for growing up at FSPA, as it shaped me into the artist, dancer, and person I am today.

A member of the Flint Youth Symphony Orchestra during the years of 2003-2006, Mark Hsieh is now a freelance trombonist.  Earning his Bachelor's from Michigan State University, and his Master's degree in trombone performance from Colorado University-Boulder, Mark has played with orchestras such as Chicago Civic Orchestra, New World Symphony, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and Colorado Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.  Some of his favorite childhood memories are from the international trips he took with FYSO to England, Scotland, and France.
