Dear FSPA Families,
Although Flint School of Performing Arts onsite lessons, classes and ensemble rehearsals are still suspended indefinitely, we have found creative options for continuing many of these programs in other ways. Hopefully you’ve taken advantage of them during this unprecedented time. Nearly all of FSPA’s lesson and class instructors have been successfully teaching their students virtually through Skype, Facetime, Zoom and other online platforms during these past few months.
We realize this isn’t ideal for our students, families and teaching artists who rely on music and dance for life and livelihood. Exposure to the arts and culture can make a positive difference for many people in difficult times. This is temporary, and if the restriction is lifted at any time, staff will make every effort to resume activity for some portion of the semester/term. Plans for Summer lessons, classes, camps and intensives are complete and program registrations and tuition assistance applications are in process. Planning for Fall lessons, classes and ensembles continues.
The FSPA office, as well as the Flint Institute of Music and Flint Repertory Theatre buildings, remain closed in compliance with the governor’s Safer at Home Order. While our buildings may be closed, FSPA office staff continue to work remotely and are ready to assist you with any questions regarding the financial implications for you and your student. The best way to contact the FSPA office is by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Staff will respond to your email and schedule a phone call at a time that is convenient to you.
Please note, although educational programs continue virtually, FIM has postponed or cancelled all events and performances for the summer. For a complete list of cancelled and rescheduled performances, please visit our website thefim.org/covid-19/.
We look forward to singing, dancing and making music together again soon!
