Chase Ward

Chase Ward, violin and viola, (ext. 129). Violinist Chase Ward is focused on communicating music's humanity through his active performing and teaching appointments. Now based in Michigan, he currently serves on faculty at the Sphinx Organization's Overture Program, the Flint School of Performing Arts, and is a mentor with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles. Chase is winner of the Kieth and Ad Astra String Competitions and the University of Oklahoma Concerto Competition. As a chamber musician, he has performed the Brahms Piano Quintet with members of the Calidore Quartet and has performed Mozart's Clarinet Quintet on Interlochen Public Radio. Other collaborations include performances with the Catalyst Quartet, the bands The Falls, Remington, and the premier of TJ Cole's Violin Miniatures. Chase is also a founding member of the Saros Trio, an ensemble dedicated to exploring the vast range of works for clarinet, violin, and piano. They are recent winners of the University of Michigan's 2018 Briggs Chamber Music Competition, receiving second prize as well as an additional prize for their performance Corey Dundee's "sb3." As an orchestral musician, Chase has played with the National Repertory Orchestra, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and has served as concertmaster of the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic and the Cimarron Opera Company. He is currently a member of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and Flint Symphony Orchestra. Other appearances include performances at the Meadowmount School of Music and the Marrowstone Music Festival. After receiving his diploma at Interlochen Arts Academy, Chase earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Oklahoma and most recently, his Master of Music from the University of Michigan. His principle teachers include David Halen and Hal Grossman, and in master class with Simon Fischer, Bayla Keyes, William Preucil, and Naoko Tanaka. Chase is certified and registered through the Suzuki Association of the Americas in books 1 through 4, and is also a Grossman Method certified teacher.
