Dr. Eduardo Farias is a trumpet performer and educator based in Lansing. A native of Porto Alegre in Brazil, he received a Doctoral degree in Trumpet Performance from Michigan State University, a MM in Trumpet Performance from Valdosta State University and a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria.
Eduardo has performed in recitals in France, Germany, Greece, the USA and his home country Brazil, in addition to having performed with the Flint, Saginaw Bay, Jackson and other symphony orchestras in Michigan and orchestras in Brazil.
His primary professors were Justin Emerich, Richard Illman, Kenneth Kirk and Enio Guerra, and he has had masterclasses with Flávio Gabriel, Pierre Dutot, Gerasimos Ioannidis, Vincent diMartino, Stanley Friedman, Ole Edvard Antonsen, along other brass performers and pedagogues.
Besides teaching at the FSPA, Dr. Farias is on faculty at Saginaw Valley State University and Michigan State University Community Music School, and he is on faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the summer. He is also the Assistant Director of Music Ministries at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Midland.
