(ext. 226) Hyunsoo Kim, an active performer and accompanist with more than 25 years experience, loves teaching and playing music with students of all ages. She holds a Masters degree in Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Masters degree in Musicology and Bachelors degree in Piano Performance, both from Hanyang University-Seoul, Korea.
Since Hyunsoo first studied piano seriously in high school, her interest has broadened to include related fields such as music theory, history, ethnomusicology, criticism, music management, and education. Her passion for music education led her to learn other instruments, especially strings. When her two sons, Harry and Sean, started their stringed instruments, she eagerly took on violin and viola with them as a new learner! After that, she participated in the String Project at The University of Texas at Austin as a violist and piano accompanist for the children.
