John Hill, percussion instructor/coach, is currently on the faculty at the Flint School of Performing Arts. His primary duties include individual percussion lessons, with a focus on drum set. Mr. Hill holds B.M.E and M.M. degrees in Music Education and Performance from Central Michigan University. He currently teaches for the Oxford Area Schools and has been teaching music for Michigan Public Schools for over 25 years. He has been awarded two "Teacher of the Year" citations, in 2001 for Sherman Middle School in Holly, and 2017 for Oxford High School. He is also a very active performing percussionist and drum set player. He performs regularly with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony, and is the host of the Soggy Bottom Jazz Night every Tuesday in downtown Flint.
