Julie Huggler

(ext. 241), Julie Huggler is an orchestra director in the Grand Blanc Community School district in Grand Blanc, MI, which is a NAMM 2018 and 2019 award winning district. The founding director of the orchestra in 2015, she currently teaches grades 6-8. Mrs. Huggler also works at the Flint School of Performing Arts, holding a violin and viola studio, as well as working with other groups within the Flint Institute of Music.

Previously, Mrs. Huggler worked as a general music teacher in Clio Public Schools, taught violin and viola in a local private school. She also spends time mentoring pre-service music education students, working as a liaison with local orchestra directors, and adjudicating string events. A native of East Lansing, Mrs. Huggler began playing violin at age 4 on Michigan State University's campus. She graduated from Alma College with a Bachelor of Music Education, where she studied with Wei-Tsun Chang and received her Master of Music Education from Anderson University. She has performed professionally on violin and viola with the Alma Symphony Orchestra, Lake Orion Chamber Orchestra, and the Lapeer Symphony Orchestra, as well as the blues fiddle for Sweet Willie Tea and the T-Bones. She is also an award-winning fiddler.

Mrs. Huggler is a member of ASTA, NAfME, and MMEA. She resides in Michigan with her husband, three teenage children, and faithfully cheers on the Michigan State Spartans.
