Luz Elena Santa-Coloma
(ext. 201) Luz Elena Santa-Coloma (b.1991) holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Central Florida where she studied with Dr. Keith Koons. While living in Orlando, she taught music lessons, directed sectionals and clinics for middle and high school clarinet students, and frequently substitute taught as a band director for former colleagues. A versatile educator, Luz Elena has experience teaching violin to elementary school students, saxophone to middle and high school students, and math to seventh and eighth grade students during a year of service with an AmeriCorps program called City Year.
As a chamber musician, Luz Elena has performed at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando with the University of Central Florida’s Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Woodwind Quintet. She has experience playing in pit orchestras for musicals such as The Music Man, and has had experience doubling on saxophone. She is currently a graduate teaching assistant for clarinet at Michigan State University and is working on receiving a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance.
